How to use SENA Spider ST1

Meet the SPIDER ST1, an affordable mesh-equipped headset with a glove-friendly jog-dial control, by Sena.

GENERAL

Power ON/OFF

Press Jog Dial and Phone Button at the same time to turn the headset ON or OFF.

  • You will hear a voice prompt "Hello" when it is turned ON.
  • You will hear a voice prompt "Good Bye" when it is turned OFF.
Volume Adjustment
  1. Rotating the Jog Dial Clockwise: Volume Up.
  2. Rotating the Jog Dial Anti-Clockwise: Volume Down.
Mobile Pairing
  1. Press and hold Phone button button for 5 seconds. You will hear a voice prompt, "Phone pairing".
  2. Enable Bluetooth on the phone and select Spider ST1 in the list of Bluetooth devices. If your mobile phone asks for a pin, enter 0000."
Second mobile pairing
  1. Press and hold the Jog dial button for 5 seconds. You will hear a voice prompt, "Configuration Menu".
  2. Rotate the Jog Dial until you hear "Second Mobile phone pairing"
  3. Enable Bluetooth on the second mobile phone, and select Spider ST1 in the list of Bluetooth devices. If your mobile phone ask for a pin, Enter "0000".
  4. To Exit from Configuration Menu, rotate Jog Dial until you hear "Exit", then tap Phone button.
Phone Operations
  • Answer a call: Tap Phone button or Jog dial
  • End a call: Tap phone button
  • Reject a call: Press and Hold Jog dial for 2 sec
GPS Pairing
  1. Press and Hold the Jog dial for 5 seconds until you hear "Configuration Menu".
  2. Rotate the Jog Dial until you hear "GPS pairing".
  3. Select Spider ST1 in the list of Bluetooth devices.
  4. To Exit from Configuration Menu, rotate Jog Dial until you hear "Exit", then tap Phone Button.
Play Music
  • Play: Press and hold Jog dial for 1 sec until you hear "Music".
  • Pause: Press and hold Jog dial for 1 sec, Music will turn OFF.
Change Music Track
  • Forward: Press and rotate Jog dial clockwise
  • Backward: Press and rotate Jog dial Anti-clockwise
Battery Indications

When you turn ON the device, the red LED flashes rapidly indicating the battery level.
- 4 flashes = High, 70~100%
- 3 flashes = Medium, 30~70%
- 2 flashes = Low, 0~30%
Note: During Low battery, you hear " Low Battery".

Speed Dialing

Add Speed dial presets using Motorcycle App or Sena Device Manager.

  1. Double Tap the Phone Button, you will hear voice prompt "Speed Dial".
  2. Rotate Jog Dial clockwise, you will hear voice prompt "Last number redial".
  3. Tap the Phone Button and last number redialed automatically.
  4. Do the same procedure for Speed dial 1, Speed dial 2 and Speed dial 3.

MESH INTERCOM

Mesh Intercom ON/OFF
  1. Tap Mesh Button, you will hear "Mesh intercom ON, Open Mesh, Channel1".
  2. The headset will be in Open Mesh (Default Channel: 1) initially.
  3. Your Spider ST1 device will search nearby Sena Mesh devices and connect automatically in Channel 1.
  4. Tap Mesh Button, you will hear "Mesh intercom OFF".
Open Mesh
  1. Open Mesh has 9 channels (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
  2. You can connect virtually unlimited number of users in each channel. 
Change channel in Open Mesh
  1. Double Tap Mesh button, you will hear "Channel setting 1".
  2. Rotate the Jog dial to change the channel from 1 - 9.
  3. Tap the Jog dial to set a channel, you hear "Channel is set, channel# ".
Group Mesh
  1. Two or more Open Mesh devices, Press and Hold the Mesh Button for 5 seconds (3 beeps), you will hear "Mesh Grouping".
  2. You will hear " Group Mesh", and Mesh Grouping is created.
Join into an existing Group Mesh
  1. The Current Group Mesh device and New device has to Press and Hold Mesh button for 5 seconds (3 beeps), you will hear "Mesh grouping". 
  2. The new device can hear “Group Mesh” and automatically switch from Open Mesh to Group Mesh.
Toggling Open Mesh/Group Mesh

Toggling feature allows users to switch from Open Mesh to Group Mesh or Group Mesh to Open Mesh.

  • Open Mesh to Group Mesh: Press and Hold the Mesh Button for 3 seconds (2 Beeps)
  • Group Mesh to Open Mesh: Press and Hold the Mesh Button for 3 seconds (2 Beeps)
Reset Mesh
  1. Press and hold the Mesh button for 8 seconds, the Mesh reset will occur.
  2. It will automatically return to Open mesh (Default: Channel 1).
Enable/ Disable Mic
  • Disable (Mic OFF): Press and hold the Mesh button for 1 second
  • Enable (Mic ON): Press and hold the Mesh button for 1 second

SETTINGS

Factory Reset
  1. Press and hold the Phone button for 10 seconds, you will hear "Factory Reset". 
  2. Tap the Jog-Dial, you will hear "Headset Reset Good Bye". 
  3. The device gets switched OFF.
Fault Reset
  1. Locate a pin hole button on the back side of the main unit. 
  2. Insert a paper clip gently into the hole and tap reset button with light pressure. 
  3. Device gets switched OFF.
Firmware Upgrade through Device Manager
  1. You can also upgrade the firmware by downloading the 'Sena Device Manager".

  2. Turn OFF Spider ST1 device.
  3. Connect Spider ST1 to your PC through USB Type C cable and Don’t use Wi-Fi Adapter.
  4. Follow Sena Device Manager software instructions.
  5. Upgrade to latest firmware.
